FLTRP Delegation Visits the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia


On May 26, 2023, on the occasion of the 40th Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, Mr. Liu Jie, Executive Vice President of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), led a delegation to visit Mr. Lin Shiguang, the Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia. During the meeting, they had a friendly conversation on cultural exchanges and publishing cooperation between China and Malaysia.


Lin Shiguang said that China and Malaysia are close in terms of geography and cooperation, and the cultural exchange between the two countries has yielded fruitful results. The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia has actively organized a variety of cultural exchange activities, allowing local people to experience the charm of Chinese culture and providing support for the development of cooperation projects and cultural exchanges between the two countries. It is hoped that this Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair will push the integration and cooperation of the publishing industries of the two countries to a higher level and contribute more to China-Malaysia friendship. He also introduced the overall situation, historical development, and current status of Chinese Malaysians, and provided valuable suggestions for the development of international Chinese and Chinese cultural titles by FLTRP, based on the actual situation of Chinese language teaching in Malaysia.


Liu Jie introduced the development history, business scale, strategic focus of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of FLTRP and the efforts made by FLTRP in promoting China-Malaysia cultural exchanges. He said that FLTRP has published a bilingual Chinese-Malay Small Dictionary for readers who learn both Chinese and Malay in both directions. In May 2022, Beijing Foreign Studies University presented the book Telling Chinese Culture in Malay Language published by FLTRP to the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ismail Sabri Yaakob. FLTRP collaborates closely with Malaysian publishing institutions, promoting dictionaries such as the Modern Standard Chinese Dictionary and Chinese learning products in the Malaysian market, which have been well received by local language learners. It is hoped that through participation in this Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, more cooperation can be established with Malaysian publishing institutions, more publishing achievements can be produced, further promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries.


At the end of the visit, on behalf of FLTRP, Liu Jie presented a hardcover edition of Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture (Chinese-English) to Lin Shiguang.
