Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) announced its collaboration with South Korea’s Kyowon Group for the publication and distribution of the Chinese graded readers “Rainbow Dragon” in the Korean market. The signing ceremony took place on June 14th at the headquarter of Kyowon Group in Seoul, and was attended by Ms. Chen Yuanyuan, Deputy President of FLTRP, and Ms. Kim Sun Mi, Board Member of Kyowon Group and Director of the Future Content Research and Development Center.
Ms. Chen Yuanyuan expressed that FLTRP has been one of the earliest Chinese publishers to engage in international cooperation. Over the years, FLTRP has introduced numerous bestselling and enduring products to serve Chinese language learners. With Chinese gaining increasing importance as an international language, more than 180 countries and regions worldwide now offer Chinese language education. Chinese education is also being incorporated into the national education systems of 81 countries, with over 30 million people currently learning Chinese. Against this backdrop, FLTRP has independently developed the Chinese graded readers “Rainbow Dragon” to support the development of Chinese education and the dissemination of Chinese language and culture. The collaboration with Kyowon Group marks a significant milestone in this effort.
Ms. Kim Sun Mi stated that Kyowon Group is the largest education group in South Korea, specializing in publishing educational supplementary books, e-books, children’s books, and digital educational products. “Rainbow Dragon” exhibits a scientifically logical syllabus, a well-developed framework, and abundant supplementary resources. It can be seamlessly integrated with Kyowon Group’s existing Chinese language learning products, thereby providing Korean learners with a more comprehensive range of Chinese reading services. Both parties hope that this program will pave the way for more excellent Chinese language learning products to enter the Korean market and further expand cooperation between China and South Korea in the fields of education and publishing.
Kyowon Group has introduced 60 titles in 23 themes from “Rainbow Dragon” into South Korea. The publication of “Rainbow Dragon” in South Korea is expected to help Korean children and teenagers learn Chinese more efficiently and better understand Chinese culture.
“Rainbow Dragon” is a series of Chinese graded readers specifically designed and developed by FLTRP for young learners overseas. The series is based on a modular teaching approach and employs a blended learning method. It provides rich digital learning resources, with story content and illustrations embodying elements of Chinese culture. It is an engaging and targeted new type of Chinese graded readers. Since its publication, the original edition of “Rainbow Dragon” has been introduced to Chinese language classrooms in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, and Singapore, and has been well-received by Chinese language learners. Additionally, through copyright licensing, the program has been introduced to Arab regions and countries in Central and Eastern Europe, such as Poland.
