On March 19, the book launch of Over to You, themed “Respond to the Needs of the Times and Open the Door to the Future” was successfully held in Beijing. The book launch also became a curtain-raiser to the Fifth National Forum on Foreign Language Education Reform and Development in Colleges and Universities.

Over to You is a new set of international and integrated materials for college English classes that was jointly developed by FLTRP and Oxford University Press (OUP) with the support of both Chinese and foreign experts in the teaching of the English language. Guided by the College English Teaching Guide (2020 Edition), the textbook targets both “basic” and “advanced” goals. This textbook is an outstanding example of a college English textbook in China mapped to China Standards of English Level 4-5. The textbook also includes a wide range of content on ideological and political education, implementing the fundamental task of moral education.

The book launch was held through an in-person conference that was broadcast live through the internet. Professor Sun Youzhong, Chinese Chief Editor of Over to You and Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Professor Pan Haiying, Dean of the Faculty of Public Foreign Language Education, Jilin University, together with dozens of other editors, more than 100 on-site experts and scholars, and over 7,000 online college English teaching teachers, witnessed the release of the new books.

Over to You has condensed the experience, wisdom and efforts of the research and development team of FLTRP and OUP. Mr. Xu Jianzhong, Editor-in-Chief of FLTRP, and Mr. Ding Rui, Managing Director of OUP (China), addressed the conference.

In his speech, Mr. Xu Jianzhong pointed out that OUP is the world's top university press, with world-class authors, while FLTRP is the top university press in China, with teams of professional experts and extensive users. The joint publication of Over to You is a powerful combination of FLTRP and OUP that responds to the needs of the times.

Mr. Ding Rui expressed his excitement and pleasure in the publication of Over to You. He said that OUP and FLTRP have cooperated for many years, and this set of teaching materials has opened a new chapter for the two publishers’ cooperation in the field of higher education. Over to You, as a new product that meets the requirements of the new era, will enhance the quality of public English education for a new generation of college students.
