On 24th February, the Confucius Institute at Oxford Brookes University (CIOBU), which was jointly established by FLTRP and Oxford Brookes University (OBU) in September 2015, held its annual board meeting via Zoom. All directors on the board attended the video meeting. Three were from FLTRP, respectively Editor-in-Chief Mr. Xu Jianzhong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ms. Zhang Siying, and Vice President Ms. Fan Xiaohong, while three were from OBU, respectively Professor Alistair Fitt, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joe Tah, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Leslie Henderson, Head of TDE (Technology, Design and Environment) Finance. The board meeting was chaired by Professor Fitt.
Angus Phillips, Director of CIOBU, reported to the board on the 2020 activities of CIOBU, as well as key projects in 2021. Leslie Henderson, Head of TDE Finance, presented the 2020 financial statement of CIOBU accounts. The Board of Directors highly appraised the achievements of CIOBU in 2020, in particular the online activities CIOBU carried out during the pandemic as well as the team efforts to explore new projects since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the UK. The Board of Directors approved the CIOBU 2020 annual report, as well as the 2021 budget. The board also approved the 5th anniversary activities proposed by CIOBU. Mr. Xu Jianzhong extended his sincere thanks to OBU for its consistent support towards the CIOBU initiative and said that FLTRP would continue to support such collaboration in the future. Professor Fitt expressed that the cooperation between FLTRP and OBU on the CIOBU project is such a good start, and the university is willing to continue providing follow-up support for the further development of CIOBU.
