FLTRP and Kossuth Co-Build a China-Theme Editorial Department in Budapest

On 20th April, 2018, the signing ceremony of China-Theme Editorial Department co-built by FLTRP and Kossuth Publishing Corporation (“Kossuth”) was held in the 25th International Book Festival in Budapest. Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, Mr. Liu Bo, Vice President of FLTRP Ms. Wang Fang, President of Kossuth Mr. András Sándor Kocsis and Director of China-Theme Editorial Department Ms. Yu Erika attended the signing ceremony, together with several sinologists and celebrities in the field of publishing and culture in Hungary.


This China-Theme Editorial Department in Hungary is the third editorial department of FLTRP in Eastern Europe after the ones in Bulgaria and Poland, which aims at introducing excellent literature and cultural works to each other, and translate and publish in China and Hungary based on the richness of high-quality works of FLTRP and Kossuth.


Mr. Liu Bo, Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, said that the relationship between China and Hungary is in the period of the best and the cultural exchange becomes deeper and more frequent. The establishment of the China-Theme Editorial Department is not only the result of the cultural exchange, but also marks a good start of deepening publishing cooperation. He was expecting the first results to be published soon in Hungary.

Vice President of FLTRP Ms. Wang Fang also delivered a speech at the ceremony. She introduced that FLTRP, based on the multi-language teaching and research capacity of experts from Beijing Foreign Studies University, has built cooperation with more than 700 overseas partners in the world, developed the capacity of publishing in more than 80 different languages, enlarged its publishing scales to 12 thousand titles and become a famous publishing house in China. She believed more and more outstanding works of FLTRP will be introduced and translated in Hungarian language and published in Hungary.

President of Kossuth Mr. András Sándor Kocsis hosted the signing ceremony and delivered a speech. He said Kossuth has published more than 50 titles related to China and also introduced several Chinese writers including Mo Yan to Hungary. Kossuth is willing, together with FLTRP, to introduce more works to each other.

Before the signing ceremony, FLTRP delegations paid a visit to the office of Kossuth. FLTRP and Kossuth further defined the cooperation mode of the China-Theme Editorial Department and made a publishing plan for the next year. FLTRP delegations also visited some famous sinologists and translators in Hungary such as Ms. Zombory Klára and Ms. Kalmár Éva.

FLTRP delegations also visited the Chinese Embassy in Hungary. Ms. Wang Fang had a meeting and conversation with Mr. Liu Bo, Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, and gave the Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture Series as a present to the Chinese Embassy.
